Zola Lee Helton Wilson Meeker, 92, of Flatwoods, Ky, formerly of Kenova, WV died Friday, December 2, 2022 at the community hospice care center in Ashland. She was born March 29, 1930 in Ashland, Ky a daughter of the late Kinnel and Dora Francis Helton. She was a school teacher for 40 years in the Wayne County W.V. School System. She graduated from Marshall University with her Bachelor’s, Master’s and 20 hours towards her doctoral degree. She was a 40 year member of Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene, where she served as mission education director, a board member and Sunday school teacher. She had a special love for animals and our veterans. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her two husbands Paul Wilson and Harold Meeker, Sr., a stepdaughter Jenny Meeker, two sisters Zelma Bowling and Opal McSorley, and a brother Bobby Helton. She is survived by a son Larry David (Nancy) Wilson, two stepdaughters Marti Martel and Donna Goda, a stepson Harold Meeker, Jr., two grandchildren Keith (Tracie) Wilson and Kyle (Rebecca) Wilson, four great grandchildren Stryder Wilson, McKinley Wilson, Walker Wilson, and Wrenn Wilson, five step grandchildren Andrew (Ashley) Martel, Benjamin Martel, Caity Goda, Gage Goda, Rome Goda, three step greatgrandchildren Jackson Martel, Killian Martel, and Kira Martel, and three special family members Ron Martel, Sandy McSorley, and Sherry Scott.  Services for Zola will be conducted Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10 AM at the Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Jim Muncy with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Kenova. A visitation for Zola will be conducted Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM at the Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland, with special prayers to be offered by V. Rev. D. Andrew Garner, KHS. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Twin Fork Nazarene Missions International at 7542 St. Rt. 168 Catlettsburg, Ky 41129 or an animal shelter of your choosing. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Meeker.

Zola was a very very special person.  When I had the chance to see her, she always always made me feel good!!!!! I Loved Mama Zola,  you would never find a special person like Zola, she was kind and caring.  Love you Zola, and you will be missed.!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Zola was a fantastic and special person!!!!!!!!!  She always made me feel loved and cared for.  Zoe was very smart lady who was very well educated and taught children for years.  Zola, You will be missed and I love you very much.
