Violet Virginia Dartey, 84, of Ashland, Ky made her heavenly journey home Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Ashland. She was born January 12, 1940 in Chattaroy, WV a daughter of the late Fred Hackney and Juanita Thompson. She was a self-employed beautician and a homemaker. She was a charter member and Pastor’s wife of Raceland Faith Church of God where she was very active in the ministry. She was a worship leader, Sunday School teacher, a Vacation Bible School leader, and served many other roles when needed. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by a sister Mickey Thompson. She is survived by her husband Richard Dartey, three children Sheffy Turner, Michael (Susan) Dempsey, and David (Claudia) Dempsey, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services for Violet will be conducted Friday, January 17, 2025 at 12 Noon at the Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Bishop Bobby Castle with burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before service time Friday. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Dartey.
