Thomas David Fannin 1933-2023

Thomas David Fannin, 90, died unexpectedly October 14, 2023 at Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland. He was born May 8th 1933 to John D. and Goldie Fannin in Rush, Kentucky. Tom graduated from Boyd County High School, following graduation he served in the Navy. Tom was married 64 years to the love of his life Doris Fannin. Tom was a member of the Elks and the YMCA where he loved all his special friends. He retired from Armco, and went on to work at Ashland Community College. He volunteered Summer Motion for 14 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet D. Mayhew. Surviving in addition to his wife, Doris Fannin, are his nieces and nephews Patricia Rae Roberts (Eddie), John D. Mayhew (Cathy), Joan Gartin (Mike) and, David Mayhew (Carolyn), two special nieces Kristi Boston (John) and Donna Stephens, as well as many great nieces and nephews, and a special friend John Stakely. A service of remembrance will be at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland, Friday, October 20, 2023 at 12 Noon, by Rev. Leon Dalton and Tracy Hillman with entombment to follow in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before service time Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Health Club at the YMCA at 3232 Megan Neyer Way, Ashland, Ky 41102. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Fannin.
