Ruth Hager McGuire Jackson, 101, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed on Saturday, August 20th,
2022, at the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. Born October 10th, 1920, in Ashland,
she was the daughter of the late Lewis Estel McGuire and Alida Mae Hager. She married
Carmel Willard Jackson in February of 1941. After his military service in WWII, they owned and
operated Forty-Fifth Street Key Market, and then Jackson’s Key Market in Catlettsburg, until
    their retirement.
Along with her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sons, David A.
Jackson and Robert “Bobby” Dean Jackson; brothers, William E. McGuire and Thomas R.
McGuire; 4 sons-in-law, Everett Tatman, Homer Bentley, David Howard, and Gerald Dalton; 2
grandchildren, Beverly Tatman and Gerald D. Dalton, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Catherine
Llewellyn Tatman. Those surviving her include daughters, Carma Tatman, Ruth Bentley,
Virginia Howard, and Alida Dalton; grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Tatman, Rita (Paul) Morris, Beth
(Terry) Turner, Michelle (Michael) Aylsworth, Jeri Lynn (David) Horner, Angela (Matthew)
Thompson, Heather Bentley, Amanda (Andrew) Foster, Richard (Cynthia) Howard, David
    (Reiko) Howard, Debi Howard, and Christina (Sarah) Dalton-McArthur; 17 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-granddaughter and another great-great-granddaughter, who will be arriving any
    day.
Ruth loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Beech Street Christian Church. She
enjoyed nature, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family. As the family
matriarch, Ruth exemplified love and strength, always focusing on caring for others. While she
will be missed deeply, Ruth’s memory will continue to be cherished by her family. Because of
health concerns present in the community and within the family, no memorial service is
scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice
    or Beech Street Christian Church.

Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Jackson.
