Patricia Hall Huge 3/3/39 – 2/25/22
With an unwavering belief in Jesus Christ, Pat Huge led a faithful Christian life and was a constant witness and friend to all who knew her. On Friday, February 25, 2022, Pat began her new life with God. While her illnesses took away her independence, nothing could alter her faithfulness to Christ.
Patricia Lehr Hall Huge “Pat” was born on March 3, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Bruce Deaton Hall and the late Marjorie Lehr Hall. She spent her childhood in Oakwood, Ohio, before leaving for Athens to attend Ohio University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. On the first day of college, she met her late husband, Robert R Huge “Bob”. Six months after graduating in November of 1961, Pat and Bob were married and lived briefly in Parma, Ohio where she gave birth to her oldest daughter, Margery Elizabeth Huge Zylich “Margie”. In 1964, Pat and Bob moved to Ashland, Kentucky where they settled to raise their family. A few months after moving to Ashland, Pat gave birth to her youngest daughter, Elizabeth Huge Jackson “Betsy”.
Pat was a dedicated homemaker and wife while raising her children. Pat’s faith was the foundation on which she lived her life. She was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church for over 30 years, where she served in a multitude of ministries and leadership positions including leader of the Episcopal Young Churchmen, alter guild member, member of the vestry, coordinator of an ecumenical program for vacation bible school for many years, founding member and leader of the Order of Daughters of the King at both Calvary and Holy Family Catholic Church, and member of the Standing Committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington.
Once her daughters left for college, Pat decided to put her degree to use by opening her own business, Communications Connection (CCI). She enjoyed serving many businesses in the Ashland community with their communication and marketing needs. CCI was open for almost 25 years, when Pat closed it to spend more time as an active grandmother to her two grandchildren. In 2003, Pat converted to Catholicism and joined Holy Family Church. She actively served as a member of the Parish council, leader of the Formation Committee, and was a founding member of The Guild of St. Monica.
Pat was preceded in death by her daughter Margery “Margie” Huge Zylich (Eric). She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Clark Jackson of Mt. Sterling, KY; her grandson Andrew Cecil Jackson of Lexington, KY; her granddaughter, Emily Cecile Jackson (fiancé, Tony Beilman), of St. Louis, MO, and sister-in-law Janet Molek (Leo) of Olmsted Falls, OH. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 932 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY. A Funeral Mass will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on 1198 Pollard Road, Ashland, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY.
