Lowell Curtis Burchett 1966-2026

Lowell Curtis Burchett, 59, of Ashland, Ky, formerly Olive Hill, Ky passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Lowell was born December 3, 1966 in Carter County, Ky a son of the late James “Jim” and Virgie Skaggs Burchett. He was a crane operator for AK Steel until the mill closed. He was a United States Army Veteran. Lowell was an avid motorcyclist. He was a charter member for American Legion Riders Post 325 Flatwoods, Ky. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138, Olive Hill, Ky, and he also would ride with the Patriot Guard Riders. Lowell is survived by his wife Jennifer France Burchett, two children Ashley (Jason) Holbrook of Rush, Ky and Curtis (Megan Cain) Burchett of Catlettsburg, Ky, four grandchildren Caroline and Novalee Holbrook, Andrew Burchett, and Keelee Coyne, a brother Michael (Chirsty) Burchett of Olive Hill, Ky, and a lifelong friend Marshall Stambaugh. Visitation for Lowell will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Burchett.

Jennifer and family, I was so saddened to hear of your husband’s and loved one’s passing. I know, although inevitable, after a long struggle, it still came as a shock when it happened. You can be assured he is in a better place; embraced in comfort; free of suffering . I’m glad you were there for him these past many many months/years. May Jesus’s love bring you peace and strength now as you pass through this difficult time. There will definitely be joy in the morning; you will see him again.
