Laura Linda Lazear Jones, 84, of Ashland, Ky, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Linda as she was known to her family and friends was born September 6, 1941 in Ashland, Ky a daughter of the late Paul and Sybil Honaker Lazear. She was the wife of David Alan Jones and was a retired co-owner of Leon Coal Company of 30 years. Linda was a graduate of Ashland High School, a member of Bellefonte Presbyterian Church where she served as elder for several years and was in the women’s bible study group that she loved and enjoyed so much. She is proceeded in death in addition to her parents by a stepmother Nancy Roberts Lazear, a brother William L. “Bill” Lazear, Sr. and a nephew William L. “Will” Lazear, Jr. She is survived by a son Andrew “Andy” (Donna) Jones of Ashland, Ky and their children Evan Jones and Logan Jones, two daughters Ann Jones of Lexington, Ky and Laura Elizabeth (Rob) Herfel of Fort Thomas, Ky, and their children Garrison Herfel and Elizabeth Herfel, a sister-in-law Helen Jackson Lazear of Lexington, Ky and her children Paul of Ashland, Ky, Joy, Joanna, and Sybil all of Lexington, Ky, a sister-in-law Cathy Lazear of Ashland, Ky and her son Wes Blevins of Taylor Mill, Ky, and a host of friends. The family has requested that all services be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Linda’s name to Ashland Community Kitchen at 2516 Carter Ave, Ashland, Ky 41101. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Jones.
