James Vinson Fryer, 79, of Ashland, Ky went to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family, Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Oakmont Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods, Ky. James was born February 29, 1944 in Carter County a son of the late Jesse Fryer Jr. and Catherine Evans Fryer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving daughter Pamela Sue Fryer Workman and sisters Hazel Hale and Junie Morrison Hall. James was a former rototiller operator and worked other positions at Clines Brick Yard for 42 years. James enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, dancing, being silly, and making people laugh. He enjoyed driving around during the change of the seasons and he loved working in his garden and comparing the size of his Dolly tomatoes with others. James enjoyed listening to music, Hank Williams and Vince Gill to name a few. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports, music, and other activities. James was a loving man. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Sue (as he called her) of 55 years together, his daughter Rebecca (Roy) Stidham of Ashland, Ky, a son James V Fryer, Jr (Barbara) of Flatwoods, Ky, five grandchildren Brecca Jenkins of Ashland, Ky, Roman Jenkins of Lexington, Ky, Katelynn and Bayla Fryer of Flatwoods, Ky, and Chloe Workman of Ashland, Ky and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oakmont Manor Nursing Home c/o James V Fryer at 1100 Grandview Dr. Flatwoods, Ky 41139 to assist in final expenses. Services for James will be conducted Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 1 P.M. at the Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland with Pastors Johnny and Wesley Diamond officiating with burial to follow in Cribbs Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before service time Tuesday. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Fryer.
