Helen Margaret Cartwright, 88, of Catlettsburg, Ky passed away, Friday, August 14, 2026, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born January 15, 1938, a daughter of the late Ballard and Edith Howard Pennington. She held various jobs throughout her life. She was a Bookkeeper for Kings Daughters Medical Center until she worked at Watsons and then Stone & Thomas. She left Stone & Thomas to return to Bookkeeping at Bellefonte Hospital. But ultimately her most important role was being a wife, mother, and grandmother to those she loved. She attended Mavity Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Helen is preceded in death by two brothers. She is survived by her loving husband Joe Cartwright, a daughter Kelley Jo (Jim) Cartwright Morman, two grandchildren Journey Autumn-Brooke (Michael) Jordan and July Megan-Rose (Lincoln) Morman, and a sister Jo Rita Bandy. A graveside service for Helen will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with her granddaughter Journey speaking, with burial to follow. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Cartwright.
